Setting sail from Edinburgh
Edinburgh - what a city! The capital city of Scotland has some striking and varied architecture, an imposing Castle, memorable museums and galleries and some wonderful restaurants. And what we love best about this buzzing city is that you can always look up, and there's the beautiful countryside - the Seven Hills - surrounding you. It's a city of inexhaustible delights; in one day alone you could see the Scottish Crown Jewels and Stone of Destiny, follow the Royal Mile to explore narrow closes steeped in history, and go to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Edinburgh Dungeon and the Scottish Parliament.

United Kingdom: Dundee
Said to be Scotland’s sunniest city, friendly Dundee was recently recognised as a UNESCO City of Design, and is home to the sparkling new waterfront V&A Dundee, the only V&A museum outside London. Dundee is also the home of The Beano and The Dandy - look out for the statue of Desperate Dan in City Square!

Invergordon’s deep natural harbour makes it a popular jumping off point for the Scottish Highlands, and most cruise ship visitors will head inland on excursions to Loch Ness, Culloden battlefield or the nearby city of Inverness, capital of the Highlands.

Faroe Islands: Tórshavn
Tórshavn, named after the Norse god Thor, is one of the world’s smallest capitals, with a population of just 20,000. The brightly coloured facades and turfed roofs lend the harbour an attractive, storybook quality, and the narrow streets are home to some atmospheric pubs and cafés.

The Isle of Skye is one of Scotland’s most popular tourist destinations, thanks to a spectacular landscape of jagged peaks, misty moors and glassy lochs. The island’s biggest town is Portree, a pleasant little place with a colourful harbour.

Situated on a natural harbour on the east coast of the Isle of Lewis, Stornoway is the largest town in the Outer Hebrides. The island is one of the last major strongholds of the Gaelic language, and is home to fascinating Neolithic sites such as the mysterious standing stones at Callanish.

United Kingdom: Castlebay
Barra is the most southerly inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides, renowned for its beautiful beaches and grassy dunes scattered with wildflowers. The main settlement is the village of Castlebay, where you’ll find the medieval Kisiul Castle perched on a rocky outcrop just offshore.

The waterfront town of Oban, situated on Scotland’s west coast, is the main gateway to the Hebridean islands, and it’s a busy place in summer. We recommend sampling the excellent seafood while enjoying the views across to the islands of Mull and Kerrera.

Arriving in Troon
The coastal town of Troon, just to the north of Ayr, is probably best known for its seven golf courses, including Royal Troon, which regularly hosts the Open. Other attractions include sandy beaches, excellent seafood restaurants and nearby Dundonald Castle, which dates back to the 14th century.
