In the world of luxury cruising, it's unusual to see itineraries
shorter than seven nights, but there are several out there if you
want to dip your toe into the world of cruising, or are simply
looking for a shorter break. A taster or mini cruise allows you to
experience everything a ship has to offer before you perhaps return
for a longer cruise - or, indeed, you may only have a short window
for a holiday and choose a cruise as the best way to see as much as
possible in a shorter period.
Mainstream brands do cater to those looking for a short break,
usually from the UK, but the ultra-luxury lines tend to avoid the
not so luxurious world of frequent turnaround days. There are,
however, some quirks of itinerary planning, which can leave a
shorter sailing open for sale. Of course you can go and visit a
ship in a UK port if it happens to be sailing in these waters, but
that is not a great way to find out what the whole experience is
like.
Furthermore, you may find that if there is an onboard booking
incentive, the saving that represents on your long cruise means
that your 'test drive' is effectively free of charge!
