Silver Ray Mediterranean Review: Hitting the Sweet Spot

Published 23rd of May 2025 | By Sharon Trigg

Cruise Lines:

I have been hearing such good feedback from clients coming back from sailing on Silver Ray, I was excited to have an opportunity to step on board for a few days while the ship was in the Mediterranean and see for myself this new class of ship. Read on for my review of Silversea's newest vessel, Silver Ray.

We embarked in Marseille, in the beautiful sunshine, and the ship gave us a very warm welcome. Eager to look around, I stepped into the lift, such a great idea to have all elevators facing the sea, you have the perfect view. I can see how the design of this ship keeps you connected to your destination, all rooms and public areas have windows, letting in natural light and great views.

As I wandered around the ship, I kept discovering lovely spots that I hadn't noticed before, where you can sit, have a drink, read a book or have a chat, or just watch the world go by, attentive crew around ready to help in the normal Silversea way. Whether you are travelling as a couple, a group or solo, you will be looked after by friendly staff on hand to cater for everyone's needs.

The Mediterranean is still one of my favourite destinations, and this is the perfect ship to be on. You can enjoy a Silversea shore excursion or do your own thing when you arrive in port. Cannes was very busy with the Film Festival, red carpets everywhere, it was fun wandering around watching the hustle and bustle and the glam squads arriving to do their magic, but knowing we had our beautiful ship to go back to and look forward to dining in S.A.L.T. Kitchen where we know we will be getting a taste of the Mediterranean - it did not disappoint.

I feel the whole S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) concept is a winner for Silversea. Visit the S.A.L.T. Bar, where you can enjoy expertly prepared cocktails by the mixologists. Experience a S.A.L.T. shore excursion with one of Silversea's food experts, or dine in the S.A.L.T. Kitchen where dishes are inspired by local flavours, accompanied by regional wines.

During the day, you can join an intimate cooking class in the S.A.L.T. Lab, along with talks and presentations. At night, this will then become S.A.L.T. Chef's Table, which is a real treat, watching the chefs create your meal and also share their passion, I'm told it is an unforgettable experience.

Silver Ray's accommodation is an all-veranda accommodation, I had a lovely veranda suite on deck 6, which had everything you needed. I also managed to see one of the beautiful Silver Suites for guests who like a bit more space and close the bedroom off from the rest of the accommodation.

My whole experience from the time I stepped on Silver Ray was amazing, things that stood out were almost everything, the space onboard, the sailing was full, but it did not feel that way. My dining experiences continued to be exciting, delicious and very enjoyable in every venue. It's the first time I have dined in Silver Note, which was an outstanding evening.

One of the main things that stood out to me, which I mentioned earlier, was the areas around the ship, inside and out, where you can find your favourite spot. You have so many to choose from I feel Silversea have listened to feedback and designed, in my opinion and I know lots of others, the perfect ship.

One last point to add, no annoying announcements on the day of disembarkation, the process is made so clear on your daily programme, you can now sit and enjoy your last breakfast and say your goodbyes in peace.
