Travelling outside peak season is continuing to grow in popularity. While the weather may not always be perfect, the benefits more than make up for it: lower fares, quieter ports of call and seeing the Mediterranean in a completely different light, away from the intensity of summer heat and crowds.

Here are some of the best winter Mediterranean cruises for 2026 and 2027.
Windstar Cruises

Oceania's newest ship, the 1,200-guest Allura, sails the Mediterranean through winter on itineraries between Barcelona, Rome, Athens and Istanbul. Most voyages run nine to 14 nights, with varied routings calling at ports including Cadiz, Seville, Melilla, Tangier, Tunis and Volos.
Why choose a winter Mediterranean cruise
The best winter Mediterranean cruises offer a different experience to summer sailings. Temperatures are milder, making sightseeing more comfortable. Ports that feel overwhelmed in July and August become manageable, even peaceful. Fares tend to be lower, and ships less crowded.
