Shoulder Season: the Best Time to Cruise the Mediterranean?

The 100-guest Emerald Azzurra and sister ship Emerald Sakara turn heads with their striking profile and stylish décor. The yachts' intimate size allow you to explore smaller ports and hidden coves in destinations including the Croatian coast and Indian Ocean, and facilities include a watersports marina, infinity pool and wellness area. In 2026, Emerald Cruises will welcome a third yacht to the fleet, Emerald Kaia.

Our Insight
Emerald Cruises launched on the rivers of Europe in 2014 as Emerald Waterways, and belong to the same group as Australian tour operator and luxury river cruise line Scenic. We would place the Emerald Cruises river product in the 'Premium' category, a rung below our preferred river operators (including Scenic), so it's not a cruise line we've tended to shout about before.
Emerald Cruises' yacht cruises are a different proposition, however, filling a niche that is currently in great demand: small ships designed to cruise warm weather destinations such as the Dalmatian Coast and the Greek Islands. The 100-guest sister ships Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara are sleek and modern, with all except the lead-in staterooms featuring a private balcony, Cruises on board Emerald Cruises' yachts have been designed to showcase smaller ports that the bigger ships can't reach.
It's important to point out that this is not an ultra-luxury product, and fares are not fully inclusive. The price includes your flights, transfers, meals, wine and beer with meals, complimentary WiFi, gratuities and included excursions in key ports; drinks outside of mealtimes and optional excursions are extra.
Both yachts sail the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Caribbean, visiting both well-known destinations and more intimate ports only accessible by small ship. In 2025, Emerald Azzurra takes in the Red Sea as well as serene island hopping around the idyllic Seychelles. In 2026, a third ship will join the fleet, Emerald Kaia, accommodating up to 128 guests on itineraries taking in the Croatian Coast, Greece, and the Seychelles.
