Seabourn's history of operating the very best luxury small ships stretches back over 30 years, yet at the same time they have the youngest and most modern ultra-luxury fleet in the industry, dating from the introduction of Seabourn Odyssey in 2009.

All six (soon to be seven) Seabourn ships feature spacious all ocean front suites, a high ratio of space per guest, and highly personalised service by close to one staff member for each guest. Once on board, you will be intrigued by a whole variety of truly impressive partnerships and collaborations...

1. Cutting-edge design

These spacious small ships cater to a maximum of either 458 or 604 guests, making them smaller than many of the new vessels being launched by their ultra-luxury competitors. Light filled public areas are combined with sizeable guest accommodation, even at entry level, and the majority of suites enjoy a private balcony. The inspired design means that walking through the vessel feels like enjoying a very special gallery, with art works and sculptures of all sorts thoughtfully displayed. The design projects for Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation have been led by renowned designer Adam Tihany, who commissioned the team at ArtLink to curate the collection for Seabourn Ovation, which includes sculpture, photography, lithographs, porcelain, ceramics and paintings from around the world.

2. Fabulous fine dining

World-renowned American triple Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller oversees onboard menus as well as directing the concept of alternative restaurant The Grill. Of course, in fine company such as this, there can be no doubt that gastronomy is a key feature of a Seabourn cruise.

3. Spa and wellness

Spa and wellness expert Dr Andrew Weil has overseen the whole wellness programme on board, which will operate under the direction of The Wellness Guide. The programme includes the daily practice of meditation and yoga, alongside Mind and Body seminars, and anti-inflammatory foods adapted from Dr. Andrew Weil's nutritional guidance.

4. First class entertainment

Meanwhile in the arena of entertainment, Academy Award winner Sir Tim Rice, the acclaimed musical theatre lyricist, is the inspiration. "An Evening with Tim Rice" is now playing on all Seabourn ships. It is a concert-style presentation narrated via video by Rice to highlight some of his most loved work - from Jesus Christ Superstar to Aladdin and The Lion King, enhanced through anecdotes and visuals.

5. Adventurous itineraries

Wide ranging itinerary options began with Ventures by Seabourn - sailings on which a knowledgeable, experienced expedition team of scientists, scholars and naturalists enhance the experience both on board and on exhilarating sea-level adventures on a fleet of sturdy Zodiac inflatable boats or paddling in double sea kayaks. This has since developed into a full-blown expedition programme with Seabourn Venture, the first in a new generation of luxury expedition yachts soon to enter service. This allows more adventurous travellers to enjoy the perfect juxtaposition of Seabourn luxury with exciting close up activity, such as hiking, snorkelling, scuba diving and Zodiac cruising, in destinations as remote as Antarctica and the Arctic.

6. Enriching lectures

More than just a conventional 'guest lecturer' programme, Seabourn Conversations features acclaimed luminaries who join the onboard conversation, with wide ranging areas of expertise including the arts, culture, gastronomy, science, current affairs and history. You will love their scheduled lectures - but what will fascinate you even more is sitting over dinner with these people, enjoying stimulating conversations and lots of fun too.
