Sometimes there are just a couple of calls on Papua New Guinea
on a cruise, whilst other itineraries are more in depth. The
logistics are challenging and there is little tourist
infrastructure, which is one of the reasons why the destination is
so exciting. But do prepare to be flexible if you are visiting.
The cruise line will plan to visit at a time to incorporate
festivals and rituals, giving you a greater insight into the
culture of the diverse peoples dwelling here.
You will probably find Papua New Guinea featured on a longer
voyage: maybe from Australia to the Indonesian Islands and
Singapore, maybe sailing southwards from Hong Kong to the
Philippines and onwards, maybe after the end of a Kimberley season
sailing eastwards, or a Pacific Islands cruise sailing westwards
towards Bali.
