2023 saw a whole host of new ships launched as the travel industry rose up once again after the disarray of the pandemic. So, what can we expect in 2024…? Read on to discover the ships we are most excited to see launch this coming year.

Silver Ray, Silversea

Silversea's Silver Nova joined the fleet in 2023, and her glamorous sister ship - 728-guest Silver Ray - will launch in 2024. These new Nova Class ships reflect an exciting evolution of the Silversea product, featuring hybrid technology, sumptuous suites and the largest capacity of any Silversea ship to date. Silver Ray will use a trio of power sources, with dual fuel engines that use LNG as their main fuel, battery technology and fuel cells, which will allow her to operate emissions-free while in port - an industry first.

Butler service is included for every suite and you can expect an outstanding array of dining options and the widest range of spacious accommodation in the Silversea fleet, including aft suites with panoramic 270-degree views. Every suite enjoys sweeping sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows with a private glass balustrade balcony.

Explora II, Explora Journeys

Identical to sister ship Explora I, 922-passenger Explora II is set to launch in August 2024 and will feature the same spacious accommodation, generous outdoor areas, huge choice of restaurants and attractive guest to crew ratio of 1.25 to 1.

We love the three outdoor pools and a fourth with a retractable glass roof to make the most of the balmy locations to which Explora II will sail. Bookings for voyages on board from August 2024 to the end of April 2025 are now open, with itineraries across the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Central America.

Ilma, Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

The second yacht from Ritz-Carlton, 456-guest Ilma, is a little larger than first ship Evrima with 228 suites, all with a private terrace, and will offer two new upper suite categories measuring more than 1,000 square feet.

While details on the new yachts are still being kept under wraps, we know that the ships will be fitted with dual fuel engines, using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as their main fuel source, and you can expect stylish suites and public areas on board, including a diverse choice of dining venues. Ilma's inaugural voyages for 2024 will take place in the Mediterranean, including stops in the Amalfi Coast, Greek Isles, Monte Carlo, Rome and Barcelona.

S.S. Victoria, Uniworld

Originally built for Crystal Cruises the 110-guest S.S. Victoria joins the luxurious Uniworld fleet in 2024, offering contemporary style and spacious suites for the ultimate in refined river cruising, with elegant decor, stylish dining options and some of the largest suites on the rivers of Europe, all with French balcony.

AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia, AmaWaterways

AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia are both set to launch in 2024 and specifically designed to sail Colombia's Magdalena River. With just 30 and 32 spacious staterooms respectively - all with a private balcony - these ships have been designed to maximise your views along the Magdalena River, and will feature a Main Lounge, fitness centre with treatment rooms and a sun-deck whirlpool.

Queen Anne, Cunard

Though a little bigger than the ships we tend to recommend, we couldn't not mention Cunard's new Queen Anne, due for arrival in May 2024.

Guests can expect reimagined spaces with more outdoor deck space than ever before, with aft deck corners that extend out, a wellness studio and a new Grills Terrace - exclusive to guests in higher suite categories - with infinity hot tubs and luxurious deck facilities, and a huge choice of dining facilities for every suite level.
