Our insight
Travelling by cruise ship has a lot in common with travelling by sleeper train: once on board you only have to unpack once, waking up somewhere new every day, and you're able to travel through remote and inaccessible regions with a level of comfort and convenience that would be impossible on a normal overland holiday.
Even a shorter journey by train can immeasurably improve the cruise experience: why go through all the hassle of flying to France to join your river cruise, for example, when you could hop on the Eurostar? Travelling by train may take a little longer, but it's less stressful, kinder to the environment, and gives you a sense of the countries you're passing through that you just don't get when you're zooming overhead in an aeroplane.
A cruise can also be combined with one of the world's great rail journeys, to create an unforgettable rail and sail adventure. You could pair an Alaska cruise with a train journey through the Canadian Rockies on the Rocky Mountaineer, or how about taking the Eastern & Oriental Express from Singapore and cruising around Vietnam or Indonesia? There are so many destinations offering so many possibilities: a rail tour of southern Africa with Rovos Rail, a trip to Lake Titicaca on the Belmond Andean Explorer, or even an epic voyage through Central Asia on the Golden Eagle luxury train.
This collection is designed to give you a flavour of the combinations we can offer so give us a call and we will help you put together that trip of a lifetime.
