Mundy Cruising at 50: Small Company, Big History

Cruise Advice
By

On 1st October 1970 our founders Paul and Judith Mundy opened their doors to the public in Piccadilly Circus. As we enter our 50th year, we are proud that we remain true to our roots, with a commitment to providing an attentive service to people who enjoy a personal relationship when making their travel plans.

As we are still a privately owned company (Matthew and I purchased the company from Paul and Judith in 1999, and I had been an employee for 10 years before that), we are able to direct the business exactly as we please. We are not answerable to shareholders or investors, so we can choose to maintain our profitability without sacrificing our core values of honesty, integrity and kindness.

We believe in loyalty and long relationships, and are therefore delighted to have been working with our key partners ever since the start: 25 years with Silversea, 30 with Crystal, 25 with Regent (formerly Radisson) Seven Seas and over 30 with Seabourn.

Likewise some of our clients have been loyally booking their holidays with us for as many as 40 years. Whether you have just joined us, or are one of our most long term clients, we believe we bring the same value to your booking process. We take the time to listen to your requirements and understand what you do and don't enjoy. We are not afraid to tell you if we think you are making a bad choice. We take care of all the details of your booking, keeping in touch along the way.

We believe our job is to reassure and support you through what can be quite a stressful process. We think that booking a holiday should be fun, and that looking forward to it is an essential part of the whole joyful process, so niggling worries and irritations should be taken care of with speed and efficiency. We are your champion with the cruise lines (and we have those long relationships to call upon if needed).

Sharon Trigg, Mundy Cruising

Technology and the internet have transformed the way that many people research and book their holidays. We know that some people feel that Mr Google can tell them everything they want to know. They are sure that they will get a better price by booking online, and that they have no need of the financial protection offered by stable and reputable UK companies. Some believe they will inevitably get a better deal booking in the US, despite the fact they are booking with no legal protection, and in a currency which could fluctuate wildly.

We understand that we cannot be all things to all people. With a business model which focuses on quality rather than quantity, we add value to the booking only if you value the additions we bring: the same professional consultant looking after your business from start to finish, no recorded messages and answerphones, someone who will give personal advice and always call you back, as well as looking after you throughout your booking and after your return, rather than simply at the time of making the reservation.

Spend a happy half hour exploring our lovely websites mundycruising.co.uk and mundyadventures.co.uk, and you will know that we are no strangers to technology, and our innovative marketing is widely recognised. But ultimately, for our clients, nothing beats a phone call, and the pleasure of a personal relationship.
