A cruise can be all of these too - in fact one of our favourite things about cruising is that people can travel together, whilst indulging their personal view of what makes a holiday special.
Having said that, many people choose a cruise with a particular focus in order to travel with like-minded people, in congenial company. And one of our favourite cruise lines was the now defunct Swan Hellenic. Following the demise of that company, we recommended a range of alternatives, one of which was Voyages to Antiquity, whose elderly little Aegean Odyssey operated just the sort of cultural cruises that Swans had loved.
Alas, Aegean Odyssey has now been taken on permanent charter by an American company, and once again a group of inquisitive, curious, energetic and primarily British travellers are left without a clear home to go to when taking their holidays. So what do we suggest?
