Setting sail from Darwin
More of a large town than a city, Darwin is less about what's contained within the city limits and more about the huge expanse of wild landscape that's outside it. Closer to Jakarta than Sydney, the city really does feel remote in its tropical perch. There are a number of waterfront restaurants and pretty parks, making it a pleasant place to relax after a long flight. For those with the energy we highly recommend a visit to Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks.
With rugged escarpments, sites of Aboriginal art, dramatic waterfalls and huge wetlands, Kakadu National Park is truly beautiful. The iconic scenery is some of Australia’s best, and served as the backdrop to the film 'Crocodile Dundee'.
Indonesia: Banda Islands
31 August - 1 September
Indonesia: Raja Ampat
Sparsely populated and spectacularly beautiful, the Raja Ampat archipelago is a treasure trove of jungle-smothered islands, white sand beaches and some of the best diving in the world. The crystal clear waters are teeming with tropical fish, while on land you can see parrots, hornbills and birds of paradise.
Jayapura, also known as Port Numbay, is the capital of Indonesia’s Papua province. This busy city is well off the tourist trail, and provides an introduction to the fascinating customs of the region. Nearby sights include beautiful Lake Sentani, where you can take a trip on a local longboat out to one of the islands.
Papua New Guinea: Madang, Tami Island, Trobriand Islands
Solomon Islands: Ghizo, Njari Island, Roderick Bay
Solomon Islands: Honiara
Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands and the nation’s only real port, situated on the largely unspoilt island of Guadalcanal. Reminders of the famous Second World War battle that took place here can be seen all over the island, as well as under the water at the fantastic dive sites off the north coast.
Arriving in Brisbane
As Queensland's largest city, Brisbane is often used as a gateway to the excellent (although very popular) beaches of Australia's Gold Coast, which lie south of the city, or the more upmarket Sunshine Coast to the north. The modern city, on the banks of the Brisbane River, has plenty of shopping malls and, with great weather, a fantastic café culture. Amongst the steel and glass skyscrapers are some interesting historic buildings, and with plenty surrounding the city there's enough on offer to make for an interesting short stay.
Stroll through the South Bank Parklands. An inviting stretch along the river with barbecue areas, pockets of rainforest, cafés and bars, and even man-made beaches and tropical swimming pools.
For once-in-a-lifetime tailor-made itineraries, Mundy Adventures specialises in expedition cruises to some of the most wonderful places on earth; places often only accessible by water.
Your home from home
Sleek and stylish, Le Boréal, Le Soléal, L'Austral and Le Lyrial are wonderful small ships which blend luxury, intimacy with a discreet elegance and a tasteful décor.
What we love
The muted natural tones that make up the modern and minimalist interior of these excellent small ships are enhanced by playful splashes of colour which creates some of the most stylish ships we've seen. The accommodation is flexible; staterooms can be combined to create expansive suites and the restaurants live up to the outstanding gastronomic reputation that you'd expect from a French flag cruise line.
|Style||Refined with a wonderful mix of a modern super yacht and nautical tradition, all with a French flair.|
