St. Vincent & Grenadines: Mayreau
Situated just to the west of the Tobago Cays, Mayreau is a tiny, barely inhabited island that can only be reached by boat. There is very little to do, which is the main attraction for those lucky few who wash up here; the palm-fringed beaches and gently lapping waters are the Caribbean island idyll par excellence.

Saint Lucia: Marigot Bay
Marigot Bay was once described by the novelist James Michener as ‘the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean,’ and this picturesque inlet is a popular destination for the yachting crowd. Activities on offer include kayaking, snorkelling and duty free shopping, or you can head inland and explore the island.

Saint Lucia: Rodney Bay
The majority of Saint Lucia’s hotels are clustered around the broad sweep of Rodney Bay, where you’ll find some of the best beaches on the island and a host of lively bars and restaurants. At the northern end of the bay is Pigeon Island and historic Fort Rodney, well worth a visit for the splendid views.

Antigua and Barbuda: Falmouth Harbour
Antigua is famously home to 365 beaches - one for every day of the year - and there is an undeniable allure to the many white sand coves dotted along the coast. Falmouth Harbour lies on the south of the island, close to historic Nelson’s Dockyard and the lookout at Shirley Heights.

Arriving in Oranjestad
The tiny Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba, located just off the coast of Venezuela, lies outside of the hurricane belt, meaning it enjoys a largely dry climate, and boasts some of the best beaches in the region, if not the world. The capital, Oranjestad, is home to some appealing colonial architecture and plenty of shops, but it's the fine white sands of the northwest coast that attract most visitors to the island. To the east, the protected Arikok National Park is home to some interesting flora and fauna, as well as caves, sand dunes and ancient Arawak petroglyphs.
Our tip
Aruba is rightly known as one of the safest islands in the Caribbean – make time to speak to the friendly local people. Their local language is Papiamento but speaking English is just fine.
