Dip your toe in with a taster cruise

Cruise Advice

I was just reading an article about buying a new car, and so much of the content rang true for holiday purchases too - just take a look at the opening paragraph in which I have replaced the car references with cruise ones….

"You can't put it off any longer - a trip to your professional cruise agent is in your near future. But how can you be sure that fascinating itinerary you're eyeing is right for you? How can you best acquaint yourself with what will be one of your largest investments? A test drive, of course. Making the most of it is a simple matter of common sense, careful observation, and knowing what to look for. Read on for how to prepare yourself for this all-important experience and what to keep track of when trying out a new cruise line for the first time."

Hang on a minute though, you are saying - how do I 'test drive' a cruise? Well of course you can go and visit a ship in a UK port if it happens to be sailing in these waters, but that is not a great way to find out what the whole experience is like.

Windstar Cruises - Star Legend at London Tower Bridge

So if you are thinking of a long or expensive cruise, maybe even a world cruise or similar, then plan a few days or a week on board first to make sure you like it. Of course it won't be exactly the same, but it will give you a good taste for what you can expect on your trip of a lifetime. Furthermore, you may find that if there is an onboard booking incentive, the saving that represents on your long cruise means that your 'test drive' is effectively free of charge!

Prepare the groundwork by having an initial conversation with a professional Mundy Cruising cruise consultant. Our knowledgeable team will spend time getting to know you, learning about your tastes and preferences in order to narrow down the appropriate choices.

Once we have selected two or three options, we can give you all sorts of useful feedback - reports from other guests, inspections made by our own team, website links, beautiful brochures, insights into the ports of call and so forth, enabling you, through a process of elimination and discussion, to identify your chosen trip and the ship which will operate that itinerary.
