'No single supplement' cruises: 4 of the best in 2017

At Mundy Cruising we've always tried to understand more about the issues and concerns of our solo travellers, and we regularly campaign for lower or no single supplements with our cruise line partners. Here are four of the most interesting itineraries coming up in 2017 on our top solo-friendly cruise lines, all with no single supplement to pay:

1. Voyages to Antiquity - A Voyage through the Middle Sea

Spring is a wonderful time to visit the Mediterranean, with the weather starting to warm up and the summer crowds yet to arrive, and the unusual routing of this 16-night cruise, from Athens to Funchal, offers an in-depth exploration of the 'Middle Sea'. Departing on 17 April 2017, you'll explore some of the most alluring islands in the Med, including Santorini, Crete, Malta and Sicily, and take in some of the highlights of southern Spain and Portugal before heading south to Madeira. Your ship, the Aegean Odyssey, has 26 dedicated single occupancy cabins, and there is no single supplement to pay on this fascinating voyage.

2. Tauck River Cruises - The Rhine and Moselle

Tauck don't charge a single supplement for category 1 cabins on any of their European river cruises, and we think that the 10 June 2017 northbound voyage along the Rhine and Moselle on board the ms Inspire looks particularly appealing. Embark in the sophisticated Swiss city of Basel, before heading north through France, Germany and Luxembourg. Highlights include the beautiful medieval architecture of Strasbourg, the Black Forest spa town of Baden-Baden and the vineyard-covered Moselle valley. Finally the landscape flattens out as you reach the Netherlands, and your 12-night cruise ends in Amsterdam.

3. Uniworld River Cruises - Enchanting Danube

If you're looking for a shorter river cruise in Europe, then Uniworld's 7-night Enchanted Danube itinerary from Passau to Budapest on board the beautiful SS Maria Theresa might be just the ticket. Uniworld are currently waiving the single supplement on a number of departures, with the 23 July 2017 sailing offering a particularly appealing lead-in fare. You'll visit some of central Europe's most mesmerising cities, with highlights including Salzburg, the Wachau Valley and the Habsburg grandeur of Vienna and Budapest.

Salzburg, Austria

4. Ponant - Portugal to the Canary Islands

French cruise line Ponant have waived the single supplement on a number of cruises on board their stylish yachts, and the 29 October 2017 sailing from Lisbon to Tenerife has caught our eye. After an overnight stay sampling the delights of the Portuguese capital you'll head south in search of some winter warmth, stopping off in southern Spain and Morocco en route to Madeira and the sun-drenched Canary Islands. You'll have the opportunity to explore Madeira's lovely capital, Funchal, as well as the volcanic lanscapes of Lanzarote, before arriving in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where you might decide to extend your stay for a little more time in the sun.
